An oobe after months!

Anyone said that sleep patterns don't work?

I went to bed at 9, maybe 9 and a half. I was pretty tired because I had woken up too early that day. Anyway, I slept so damn well, felt like years of good sleep, but when I woke up, it was actually 2 o' clock in the night. I was expecting some sunlight, but there obviously wasn't any. I got up and had a chat with a few friends on the internet and turned in back at 6. While falling asleep, guess what happened? Yes, I had an OOBE. It started off with me feeling paralyzed, but it was not that weird as the vibrations, which I could feel, and not really hear, reduced the paralysis effect. This used to always happen to me when OOBEing. I've only had 2 pure SP's without any vibration.

Anyway, before my OOBE I was actually reading about techniques on how to memorize things more easily and how to build a memory palace; I had heard that one before, but I wanted to remember a few more things. I tried to mentally create a route in my room and set up places where I could put things to remember. I won't get into this since this is not why I am writing this post. You can find a lot of info on the internet about mnemonics or whatever. I recall that the first thing that I did after getting out of my body, was going towards the wall in front of me, where my mental route starts and I thought I should try and make it as vivid as possible. I was pulled back once by my stupid mental blocks, which I apparently have, but when I got next to the wall the second time, I turned around and saw my bed. I can't be bothered creating myself in the bed too, so I was not there. I then looked at my hand and the everything got so vivid and real, this being the reason why I've even remembered the experience. I even said "wow, that's pure HD". I might then have tried to get out of the window but the reality must have faded away and the subconscious mind took over.

I also have this recollection of me checking all the places I have set up for placing memories into, but I think that is just my mental route which I made before going to bed.

Anyway, I have not bothered with OOBES lately, but apparently, now that I am aware of how they mostly occur, I will never be able to get rid of them.

New Method - still experimenting


I am sure everyone has spoken to himself before, it is nothing new. Sometimes you mean those things so much that you forget about the world around or that you have a shower, although you probably are already there. Now, having said all of this, this is the core of my new method. It is similar to the "create-the-dream-from-HS" method I've talked about. You can find it in the methods post. It basically requires you to wait until you get hypnagogic images and turn them into a dream in which you have control. It does feel fake for a little, but your body does not care how fake it is and will take an opportunity to relax. Once you feel you don't have control anymore, you just say your magical sentence "I am lucid. I am in control" and if you did it at the right time SP should kick in.

Anyway, this is not my new method I am working on, the new one refers to talking to yourself until you fall asleep. It doesn't matter what you're saying, just talk. Don't say random words, say full sentences, talk to yourself, talk to an imaginary friend, if you want, just talk. Even if you find what you're talking about weird, talk about how weird it is too. The main idea of this technique is to talk as much as possible, mean everything you say, so that you forget about your body and everything around you. You know, when you read something very interesting (like this awesome article, of course) or you're talking to someone about something you really like, you forget there's a room, there's air you're breathing, there's a body, you just talk and barely shut up. One other thing that could help you is, if you know more languages, talk in all of them, don't use your native that much, and besides, you'll even get a chance to practice speaking in a foreign language while "sleeping".

Although this method may keep you active mentally, your body will get tired of you and go to sleep. You won't really worry that much about not moving because you're too busy talking to yourself about how bad your teacher is or what a horrible person your friend's friend is. However, you need to watch out for a few things. If you, however, need to move, or turn to the other side, always REMEMBER to keep talking. I was all aware, almost needed to separate, but felt the need to turn on my other side, once I did, I fell asleep without even knowing. Also, if you find it hard to talk or say your "magical sentence" it means you're probably going in deep sleep and you need to force the experience a bit, even if that means ruing it for the moment. If you feel the need to scratch at the moment just do it, you'll forget about it anyway later. Get comfortable, make sure you've used the toilet before you do this.

I know it is contrary to everyone's beliefs and that you should keep a still mind, but the main thing about OOBEs is mind awake - body asleep, so it doesn't really matter what you're doing in your head, the main focus here is to get your body to fall asleep. However, if you want to meditate or something, I don't recommend "insanity" there, like talking to imaginary friends. Having spoken of friends, imaginary or not, if you're a religious person you can even talk to your God and pray to him and whatever, as long as you can keep going. If you even add some emotions to what you're saying everything should go perfectly.

Also, another thing I need to mention, after talking, you'll find that you have probably not moved the whole time, try then some imaginary separations, this is how I got out in my "pure SP" experience. A link to that experience should appear here.

DILD, I guess + ND

I am supposed to take this weird German test and one classmate is actually one of the teachers who would correct it afterwards, classmate who can't even say a word in German. Anyway, the test is in Romanian and I am all "wtf, why is that, LOL". I start writing and then I realize I have written on another paper, which I only printed out to exercise before the test. I realize that because I had to say something about a story which sounded familiar to me. I remember "Vandroyi did that and that". Anyway, I am taking my other paper, but I keep losing it or writing on other pages.

It is already too late for me to do all the test, so I decide to write a text as the subject of it is pretty easy. It is all so nice and I have finished it. I just look through it once again and realize it is in English. I again am too late. I am going down some stairs, while translating it all into German, but I forget what I have written. I then think that I am too unlucky for all of this to be true and decide to wake up. Once I see that I was in a dream, I close my eyes and go back automatically in class. I tell my classmate that it is all a dream. It is just him and me there. So I decide to fly off the window. I can still remember saying "OMG, IT IS SO HD!!!!" while flying. I have a very good control, like never before. My classmate decides to do the same thing. He and I lose control of the dream which causes me to wake up or just get in deep sleep again. (Can't really remember, as I've had 2 alarms set today).

The second dream:

Since I listen to avanatasia everyday, I had a dream that I was Jorn Lande and there were Sammet and another girl too. I can't remember all the things that we have done. Anyway, I remember that I am with Tobi and that girl, which is probably my cousin, we both are mesmerized with avantasia. Tobi decides that it is time to kill the most powerful dragon ever, which no one has ever killed before. I don't remember when this happened, but I know we get to a place with an old lady there and some pit of lava. I have somehow the belief that the snake which is inside that pit can read our thoughts so I am just trying not to think about our main goal. Suddently, Sammet is dragged by the large snake-dragon (can't remember wtf it was) and it starts talking to him. "Why are you here?". Sammet is trying not to tell him the main goal, but then the snake just continues "You're here to kill the dragon, right?". We all just freeze. The snake did not really have anything to do with us, so he just let us go but warned us of the dangers of fighting the dragon. By the way, all this place was in a cave.

Anyway, I remember being in my cousin's (another one) apartment, hiding from sammet's.. wife OR we are just hiding ourselves until people find us. Sammet, for some reason, is sad and wants to give me, Jorn, all his power so that I can fight the dragon. I, however, refuse and make him realize he has to do it all. Suddenly the people who live in that apartment come in and I just throw some weird ice-cream on the ground and all people from all schools get out to see it, while we just fly away. I am not sure how, though. This is all, though. I have no idea what happened to the dragon.

I remember, while writing this, I decided to write a third dream, but I've already forgotten it. Eh, I guess it wasn's that important anyway.

The third dream:

I learn pascal in school and we all had to take a test in C++. I don't really have any problems, since I've programmed in it before, so I am just fine. When I tell my teacher "eh, no worries, I have tried it before" she gets all "YEAH RIGHT. SO WHAT. YOU THINK YOU'll PASS" and I am all wondering wtf is wrong with her. I remember having to write something on the blackboard, but I don't know what. That's pretty much it, nothing very important, as I already said.

Sleep paralysis - Romanian / Română

Note: All the posts here are in English, except for this one. This article will be moved once I have created a Romanian Blog.

Pentru a afla ce este sleep paralysis trebuie să ştim cât de cât ceva despre somn. În timpul somnului trecem prin câteva cicluri ale somnului ce conţin anumite stagii. Sunt 5 stagii, dar voi pune stagiul 3 şi 4 împreună deoarece sunt foarte similare şi nu sunt multe diferenţe între ele. Aşadar, cele 4 stagii sunt: Stagiul 1, 2, 3 şi REM.

În stagiul 1 şi 2 corpul se relaxează încetul cu încetul iar creierul emite unde alpha şi theta. Nu intrăm în multe detalii pentru că nu ne interesează. Totuşi, în aceste stagii încă putem fi foarte uşor treziţi. Poate vi s-a întâmplat să vină cineva să vă trezească după 20+ minute după ce v-aţi pus în pat şi le-aţi spus "nicio problemă, oricum nu dormeam". Defapt, dormeaţi, doar că eraţi într-un somn uşor.

În somnul adânc (deep sleep / Stagiile 3 şi 4) creierul emite unde delta în care suntem aproape inconştienţi. În această stare, sistemul imunitar porneşte şi vindecă corpul. Acesta este şi motivul pentru care dormim mai mult când suntem bolnavi. Ar putea fi şi motivul pentru care cineva e în comă?

În ultimul stagiu, REM (rapid eye movement / mişcarea globilor oculari) activitatea creierul creşte emitând unde similare stării de trezire. Tocmai de aceea această stare se numeşte "stare de somn paradoxal", deoarece noi dormim, dar defapt suntem la fel de trezi ca atunci când nu dormim. Respiraţia şi bătăile inimii încep să crească de asemenea, dar muşchii legaţi de oase paralizează pentru a nu ne mişca în timpul viselor. Evident, în această stare visăm. Procesul de paralizare a corpului se mai numeşte REM antonia. Procesul în care eşti conştient de REM antonia se numeşte Sleep paralysis.

Un ciclu poate conţine aceste stagii, nu neaparat toate. Când dormim trecem prin aceste cicluri de mai multe ori. Se crede că un ciclu durează între 60-90 minute. Totuşi, depinde de la persoană la persoană, nu este constant. În prima parte a somnului, să spunem primele 2-3 cicluri, deep sleep durează mai mult decât REM. Dacă ne culcăm doar vreo 2-3 ore s-ar putea să nu ne amintim niciun vis. Cu cât timpul trece şi dormim mai mult cu atât durata deep sleep-ului se micşorează şi cea a stării REM creşte. De exemplu, după 6 ore de somn sunt şanse mai mari să ne amintim visele decât peste 1/2 ore. Deobicei în ultimul ciclu se trece mai mult prin REM.

Stagiile nu merg de fiecare dată în ordine. De exemplu poţi începe aşa: S1, S2, S3, REM, S3, S2, S2, S3, REM ... S2, REM REM S2 REM. În stagiul 2 petrecem 50% din somn şi de aceea un somn de 30 de minute poate fi suficient pentru a îţi reîncărca bateriile.

[b]Lucruri ciudate în Sleep paralysis şi explicaţia lor:[/b]
[i] Hallucinaţii vizuale sau auditive[/i]
În această stare putem experimenta anumite halucinaţii care probabil sunt create de subconştient, mai ales dacă avem Sleep paralysis spontan. Deobicei dacă devii conştient în vis şi reuşeşti să ieşi din realitatea visului, te vei trezi, dar corpul va rămâne paralizat. Cu cât eşti mai speriat cu atât starea se adânceşte şi devine tot mai rea. Cu cât eşti mai entuziasmat de această stare cu atât poţi ieşi mai uşor din ea. Desigur, nu pot garanta că acele halucinaţii sunt doar halucinaţii sau nu, dar aşa este crezut. Pot fi foarte aleatorii, eu de exemplu am fost tras din pat de... nimeni?!

[i]Probleme cu respiraţia[/i]
Multă lume are probleme cu respiraţia în Sleep paralysis. Când dormim, respiraţia şi bătăile inimii sunt într-un mod "automat", am putea spune. În momentul în care devii conştient de această paralizie o să încerci să respiri cum faci deobicei când eşti treaz, dar muşchii cu care respirăm sunt paralizaţi şi inabilitatea de ai putea folosi creează această iluzie. Noi defapt mereu respirăm.


De ce ai induce Sleep paralysis?
Motivul pentru care ai face acest lucru este pentru că eşti sigur de faptul că trupul tău este imobil şi te poţi mişca "astral" fără a-ţi face griji că te mişti fizic, cum se poate întâmpla în meditaţie. Cu toate acestea, totul pare aşa de real încât se pot creea confuzii între fizic şi Sleep paralysis. Am renunţat la câteva încercări de OOBE pentru că am crezut că m-am mişcat fizic. Dacă intri optimist în această stare, experienţa ta va fi plăcută.

Metode:
Având în vedere că această stare este strâns legată de somn, pentru a induce Sleep paralysis trebuie să ne jucăm cu somnul. De asemenea, pentru că această stare apare în REM, trebuie să intrăm în REM conştienţi. Aici sunt câteva metode:
A) Treziţi-vă cu 2 ore înainte decât normal. Normal înseamnă ora la care vă treziţi deobicei, fără nicio alarmă. Staţi treaz 30-60 de minute şi reîntoarceţi-vă la somn
B) Dormiţi între orele 6-9 şi mergeţi în la culcare / o proiecţie astrală după 2-4 ore de la somn. (După ce v-aţi trezit, nu mai staţi în pat, vă ridicaţi)
C) Dormiţi 5-6 ore, treziţi-vă, staţi treaz 30-60 de minute şi reîntoarceţi-vă la somn / meditaţie
D) Eu obişnuiam să mă culc la 1 noaptea, să mă trezesc la 6 dimineaţa şi să induc la 7/7:30.

În fiecare dintre metode veţi putea experimenta:
a) Sentiment de oboseală din cauza trezirii.
b) după 1-2 ore de aşteptare vă puteţi simţi foarte treaz încât nu aţi mai merge înapoi să încercaţi pentru că veţi crede că veţi sta în pat aiurea. Deobicei în metoda A se întâmplă asta), dar se poate şi în celelalte B şi C.

Ce să faceţi:
- Când vă reîntoarceţi la somn, puteţi încerca să meditaţi. Eu deobicei mă las adormit până când intru în Sleep paralysis.
- Dacă aveţi vibraţii aşteptaţi să se liniştească înainte să vă separaţi. Dacă după 1-2 minute nu se întâmplă nimic, încercaţi să vă separaţi oricum.
- Aş spune să experimentaţi SP de mai multe ori înainte să încercaţi să vă separaţi pentru a fi obişnuit cu starea. După aceea când aveţi SP, singurul lucru la care trebuie să vă gândiţi este separarea.
- De asemenea, a avea un plan pentru proiecţie este recomandat. Dacă staţi nemişcaţi şi nu ştiţi ce să faceţi se va pierde starea şi vă veţi trezi sau veţi adormi şi veţi avea vise foarte "vii".

Ce să nu faceţi:
- Nu faceţi sport.
- Nu faceţi duş.
- Nu faceţi nimic ce v-ar putea schimba starea fizică pe care o aveţi. Corpul de-abia a fost trezit din somn şi aşa trebuie să rămână.
- Când vă treziţi, nu vă reîntoarceţi la somn. Vă veţi termina ciclul şi veţi fi odihniţi.

Pentru mine OOBEs nu au nicio treabă cu sufletul ci doar cu conştiinţa. Trebuie să pierzi legătura cu această realitate şi să mergi în altele. Nu cred că defapt ne separăm de fizic când ne proiectăm. Cred că OOBe-urile, visele şi visele lucide sunt toate în conştiinţă. Totuşi, asta nu înseamnă că această conştiinţă este fizică. Conştiinţa e translatorul şi maşina cu care călătorim, motiv pentru care nu am nevoie de corp în OOBes şi nici de acel cordon argintiu. Noi deja suntem şi în astral şi în fizic, doar că suntem mai mult concentraţi pe fizic. Odată ce am pierdut legătura cu el rămânem doar în astral. Defapt termenul de "proiecţie" nu mi se pare corect. Nu te proiectezi în astral, ci te "muţi" în astral, te concentrezi pe astral, te afli. Aceasta este opinia mea.

S-ar putea să mai vin cu anumite detalii, dacă voi considera că este nevoie, mai ales la metode.

Sleep Paralysis

First of all, I do not believe that this type of experience is caused by any demonic being, or at least, not as a major cause. I can provide a few answers to the usual questions.

The entire phenomena occurs during REM sleep, which is the last stage of sleep. During REM sleep, one's awareness increases and the sleeper starts dreaming. However, due to the fact he would not know he was dreaming, he would act out of his dream, similar to somnambulism. I'll discuss about that too. Therefore, in order to prevent this from happening, REM antonia comes in. This means that all the muscles connected to the bone get paralyzed so that we cannot move while dreaming. Now, since awareness is increasing, there's a way of someone getting aware of REM antonia. This process is called Sleep paralysis. In this state many auditory, visual and other types of hallucinations can occur.

Visual hallucinations
There are many types of visual hallucinations. However, I have not experienced many, but I shall talk about the usual ones. Mostly, people get in this state the feeling of fear, as they are incapable of moving and maybe speaking. Some of them may even perceive a presence in their room. This fear, apparently, is the first thing that can come into your mind when this process occurs. It has happened to me also. The presence of a being is said to occur only because the sleeper perceives his paralyzed body. However, the solution I have gotten for this is to not expect any presence and call it only a hallucination when it occurs. The fact that this makes them go away proves that they are harmless.

Auditory hallucinations
These types of hallucinations, according to my own personal experience, occur more often than the visual ones. You can experience loud vibrations, whispers, even your name being called. Unfortunately, I am not capable of explaining the vibrations that occur, however, once you separate form the body, they wear off. You do not even remember you've had them; they just vanish. These vibrations can be perceived also as your name or as whispers. It has recently happened to me, however, when I wished them away, all I had to do was to say it. In other words, do not worry much about these either, since they are only hallucinations that can be wipped off.

Other types of hallucinations / issues
One issue, that apparently, everyone is experiencing is breathing problems. I have had this issue too at the very beginning of my journey, however, with time and research I’ve realized that it isn't me not breathing enough, it is me who is the problem. While we are awake, breathing, we are using our intercostal muscles, however during sleep, we get into an "automatic breathing pattern". Therefore, once we get in REM sleep, muscles get paralyzed, yet, we are still breathing. Once we get aware of this process we try to breathe as we are used to, but since we cannot move any muscles at all, we get the feeling of not breathing enough or suffocation. If you go consciously in the state, with the intent of separation, you will forget to worry about your breath and just continue what you have planned. This breathing issue also explains the pressure some people have on their chest. It is not a being, it is only you inducing it.

What I think OOBEs actually are

I have been thinking of writing about this in a long time and I have finally decided to do it. This article that I am writing will contain my views on dreams as well as out of body experiences. All that I am writing here is based on my own experience and research.


First of all, I would like to point out again the differences between Out Of Body Experiences and Lucid Dreams. There are many beliefs which say that OOBEs take place in higher astral realms and that LD's only in the mind or in lower astral realms. However, I find this information a bit flawed as one can transit between Lucid Dreams and OOBEs as much as they want, without having to change anything, but awareness or lucidity. The terms astral, higher or lower realms are only metaphors used by people to better explain the difference between the different states they were in while in the experience. Although, they are the same phenomena, therefore occur in the same place, the mind, it does not mean that they need to feel the same way. Everyone can feel the difference between LDs and OOBEs.

After an LD you can only remember how you got lucid and what your dream was about. When remembering the experience, lucid dreams may come like images and not like REAL "PHYSICAL" ACTIONS. You don't feel like you did something, but you just see how you imagined yourself having done what you did. I usually call this a 2D experience.

As for OOBEs, however, they feel as real as this world. You can remember everything since you became aware, how you became aware, why, how you separated, when you separated, what you DID, when you returned to bed, almost everything. It is not "imagination" anymore, it is REAL EXPERIENCE. You will remember it as you remember what you did 5 minutes ago. I am not talking about vividness, but how you, as a being with a body feel. I also call this a 3D experience since there's no difference between real life and OOBEs. They are the same, even when you wake up, you won't notice the difference.

Another way I used to put it was:
normal dreams - in the box, unaware of it
lucid dreams - in the box, however, aware of it
OOBEs - outside of the box.

Now that I have already explained why OOBEs, Dreams and LD's are the same phenomena, I would like to share my opinion on OOBES, the "realest state" of the experience. Both in dreams and OOBEs your body senses are cut off and it is only your mind that is awake. This usually happens in REM, but you do not always need REM to get to this. I will post a link to methods on how to OOBE at the end of the article. Anyway, since the body senses are cut off and it is only you and your mind without any environment to live in, with practice you will realize that we are in fact just a point of consciousness. The magic occurs once we interact with information from the external world and get the illusion of being one with the information, when in fact we are not. Now, since in an OOBE, at first, there is no environment as you receive no data from the body, you could say that the mind uses a back-up plan in which it creates you a FALSE environment based on all the things you've experienced throughout your life. A fish would have an OOBE in the water, or what it "thinks" it is like on land.

In other words, everything in the OOBEs is caused by your mind. It is now the creator of the universe you are in. It creates the rules, what/if you feel, hear, touch, taste or smell. One may ask however, why we always know where to separate from when we become aware. One reason, though, why we usually separate from our bed and NOT from somewhere else is because of sleep paralysis or EXPECTATION. We know we are in bed, since we are "very" aware, therefore we will separate from there. If the OOBE is involuntary, you may OOBE from the place you are the most used to. I once moved my bed on another side of the room and when I got in SP I still thought/felt that my bed was in the old place. I didn't realize I had moved it until I woke up. Since we are all so used to SPACE, our mind will automatically look for a place to give you, whether it is your closet (I have been there).
